How It All Began

When I joined (TKF) owned by Olaf Simon, I trained every day, became a teacher under GM Terlecki for yrs, got transferred to Edmonton and continued under GM O’Brien. I became the area supervisor and then an owner, and I left in 1992.

After working for (TKF) for yrs, built 9 studios and moved to grand forks. There I lived in olaf house then got an apartment as I was running the head office with June Simon.

I traveled to all locations training the staff, I was a co pilot for his wife as they had a twin engine plane. olaf’s wife was a pilot and olaf skill level was master at best, but a very good business con taking everyone for there money. I was also training with other sifu and GM at my time with (TKF) because of olaf lack of knowledge.

I opened my own studio and started learning the iron palm and BFP from GM Lacy and much more. I was well trained when i was introduced to GM Chan and others by sifu Brian Mcdonald here is how it all began…

Sifu Brian Macdonald introduced me to Sifu Margi Hilbig, GM Mark Chan, GM Stan Lee, and many other GM in 1992. Sifu Hilbig and Sifu Macdonald trained with GM Chan and GM Stan lee long before myself.

Sifu Hilbig taught me 12 kenpos and the 36 lohan moves and few staff forms as I started teaching at the police station. She had learned the kenpos from the late GM Ed Parker, the kung fu she learned was from GM Stan Lee and GM Mark Chan, and some white crane from GM Frank Lee. Sifu Hilbig got along with everyone.

I was involved in testing and awarding many 7th degree black belts under the Ging Wu Kung Fu Associations for Sifu Hilbig, while still teaching at my own school, which I have to this day.

Brian Macdonald and myself trained at the the Ging Wu Kung fu school at night , with GM Stan Lees group learning hung gar, some Choy lee fut and the Tong Long mantis form from GM Tommy Yees chief instructor. Brian and I would go the ging wu school after we finished training at the police station with the students under Sifu Hilbig.

Brian Macdonald and I also started training with GM Mark Chan on the weekends in 1992 , learning hung gar, Sil Lum forms , Bak Mei and dargon. We would train for hrs, and in time Sifu Macdonald moved on, I kept training with GM Chan. We would go to my school in the morning and work on Kenpos, Hung Gar, Dragon , Bak Mei and White Tiger. We did this for a long time and we had alot of fun, and I still see GM Chan almost every week till this day.

I was also in touch with many other GM , it was a very fun and interesting time.
